Volunteering

"I receive more than I give..."
-- Sutter VNA & Hospice volunteer

You already have the special skills needed to volunteer at Sutter VNA & Hospice. The greatest gift you can offer is your time, your caring nature, and your willingness to listen. Training and ongoing support are provided to all volunteers, so experience is not required. It's a great opportunity to learn new skills and enhance existing ones.

The rewards are many for those who volunteer their time and talent. Again and again, our volunteers say, "I receive more than I give."

What Kinds of Things Do Volunteers Do?

Volunteers are an important part of our team of nurses, social workers, home health aides, and chaplains who provide compassionate care for our hospice patients and help to ease the stress and exhaustion their families deal with.

You can provide family members with a much-needed break for a few hours each week. You might run errands, write letters, provide companionship, read to patients, or just listen to the stories of these people's lives. Other volunteer opportunities to choose from include therapeutic massage, bereavement support, special events, community outreach and office assistance.

You already have the skills needed to be a Sutter VNA & Hospice volunteer: a desire to support others when they most need it.

Here are just some of the ways Sutter VNA & Hospice volunteers make a difference in peoples' lives:
  • Patient Care Support
  • Bereavement Support
  • Transportation Services
  • Chaplaincy Visits
  • Flu Shot Program Support
  • Thrift Store Operations
  • Office Support
  • Special Events
  • Public Speaking
